Helen Phillips

Helen Phillips is such a unique voice in modern literature. Born in Colorado, she has built a reputation for writing stories that feel slightly surreal—what people often call "fabulist"—while staying deeply grounded in the real, often stressful, realities of modern life. She is a professor at Brooklyn College and lives in New York with her family. You might recognize her work from her acclaimed novel The Need, which was longlisted for the National Book Award, or her more recent book Hum. She has this incredible ability to take domestic or office situations and turn them into something uncanny and thought-provoking.
