David Szalay

David Szalay is a uniquely gifted author who often explores themes of modern identity and globalization through interconnected narratives. Born in Montreal to a Canadian mother and a Hungarian father, he spent his childhood moving between Beirut and London before attending Oxford University. His work is celebrated for its spare, minimalist prose and sharp insights into vanity and self-absorption. He gained widespread international acclaim for his novel All That Man Is, which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2016. Most recently, his novel Flesh won the 2025 Booker Prize, further cementing his status as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary fiction.
