Harper Lee
π About the Author
Harper Lee was born and raised in Monroeville, Alabama, where her childhood experiences and her father's work as a lawyer deeply influenced her writing. She moved to New York City in 1949 to pursue a writing career, eventually publishing her masterpiece, To Kill a Mockingbird, in 1960. The novel became a global classic and won the 1961 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Following her debut's massive success, she largely retreated from public life and granted very few interviews. Decades later, in 2015, a prequel titled Go Set a Watchman was published, and in 2025, a posthumous collection of her essays and stories, The Land of Sweet Forever, was released.
